Join us as we present Part 2 of a 2-part series on Health Care Reform for HR professionals. Despite sweeping changes at a national policy level, a strong need for risk mitigation at the employer level still exists — perhaps now more so than ever. The focus of this discussion will be on ways to reduce current & future costs by managing behavior and lifestyle risks in your workforce. We’ll examine best practices used by employers of all sizes and industries and present practical strategies to design and implement an effective program with a meaningful return-on-investment, including those with little or no employer investment required.
The Alliance sponsors quarterly presentations on rotating subjects for HR leaders and business owners at the Talamore Country Club in Ambler, PA. The events are easy to attend, they get right to the point, and are full of information. Best of all, they’re free to the public & your time includes a complimentary networking reception with light refreshments. Each event also includes a drawing for a complimentary golf membership to the Talamore that can be used for 1 year… a terrific bonus if your business card is drawn!

Never been to an event? Now’s your chance! Our next seminar is being hosted on Thursday, June 17th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Denise Lantz, President of Attentive Health, and Kevin Melesky of First Contact HR will be presenting “Wellness on a Shoestring & Reducing Costly Turnover” — focused on how business leaders can subtract dollars from the ever-growing cost of doing business in two critical areas of HR risk management: health care and hiring. Click here for details & registration.

The last 2 events each gathered 60 or so business professionals from around the region in a fun & engaging atmosphere. In April, the topic was “Getting Great People & Making Benefits Count” with Daniel Ebbert of Strategic Research Solutions & Bob Thorsen of Colonial Life presenting. In January, we kicked off the year with “Maximize Employee Wealth & Wellness“, a presentation by Marc Rosenberg of United Benefits Group & Elena Sickles from Edward Jones. At our next seminar on September 16th, 2010 the event format will change with a panel discussion on “Improving Your Bottom Line” in which each sponsoring member of the AHRP will present a brief topic in rotating small group sessions.

If you are interested in these or any other AHRP activities, please join our LinkedIn Group page by clicking here. This page serves as a communication avenue for events, as well as being a forum for attendees to share ideas and continue their discussions online.

If you’re in HR, or have a vested interest in human capital management, we hope to see you at a future AHRP event! In the meantime, as always, if you have any thoughts or suggestions, please contact us.

Staying in touch and providing unique, relevant & brief bits of useful information is important, so we think it’s a good thing that options abound these days. In fact, in the past few months, Attentive Health has added several tools that enable us to stay in touch through whatever means work best for our clients, colleagues & friends. For starters, we have a Facebook business page, a Twitter conversation & a LinkedIn Group. On yet another level, the option now exists to be notified of our events & company news postings using an RSS feed.

It is with great pleasure that we now enlist the help of a friendly email/newsletter service that is not only helping us change the way we send messages (and do so more consistently), but will also help improve the content to be more topic-focused & personalized to our readers. Introducing our new friend: Mail Chimp.

So if you or someone you know would like to receive our email updates and newsletters (with the option to unsubscribe at any time, no questions asked), just click on the furry messenger below to subscribe to certain topics & preferred email formats. No spam, no privacy violations: just brief, useful information. We promise.

Every 10 years since 1980, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) leverages scientific insights and lessons learned from the past decade, along with new knowledge of current data, trends, and innovations to formulate national objectives to promote health and prevent disease. Healthy People 2010 is the current effort in this area, and will soon to be updated by Healthy People 2020.

Attentive Health is honored to be able to contribute to this effort and offer our insights as a community stakeholder to help shape the future of this initiative. Thus far, we’ve joined the Healthy People Consortium and been asked to provide input via the public comment process. As the initiative moves forward, we look forward to further advancing the objectives of Healthy People 2020 by incorporating this national resource into our program planning. We encourage all of our colleagues in the wellness & health promotion industry to do the same!
